As South Dakota’s primary election polls came to a close, presidential hopeful Barack Obama was being accepted as the Democratic nominee for the 2008 Presidential race. I was watching the news roll in on CNN at about seven last night, and reporters there were judging Obama as the winner before all the delegates were in. Rumor has it that Fox News was declaring him the delegate early in the afternoon before even Montana’s polls had closed. Yet here we are, almost 24 hours later, and Hillary Clinton continues to claim she is still running for President. And not of Make-Believe-Land either. Of the United States.

So what does this mean? By itself, it just looks like Clinton isn’t ready to give up; that she is a fighter, and that fighters don’t quit until the end. Unfortunately, it means something far worse, and it uncovers a truth that should make us all thankful she wasn’t the one who clinched the ticket last night.

We learn that Hillary Clinton refuses to put her personal aspirations aside for the betterment of the collective. In this particular instance, we see her putting the success of the Democratic Party on the line to satisfy her own goals. Now I’m sure that it would be extremely difficult to give up the chance of being President, but by sticking around, Clinton has waged a heavy toll on Obama’s chances in November.

That’s what has happened as a direct result of Clinton’s refusal to join America in reality. Imagine the damage she could cause if she were elected as our nation’s leader. The Dems are using Bush’s stubbornness regarding Iraq as a selling point for their candidates (or, should I say, candidate), but Clinton is proving she would in fact exhibit the same fatal flaw! Don’t look to McCain for a third term of Bush, look on the blue side of the line at Clinton!

Thankfully, the only semi-stable Democrat in the pack came out on top: Barack Obama. The Kansas-born African-American who didn’t stand a chance against the great monster Hillary Clinton slew Medusa in the end. Now it’s time for the real nitty-gritty, and I’m eager to see how this McCain-Obama race plays out. Fasten your seat belts, its going to be a bumpy one.
